"Welcome"

Bonny View Bobcats are
Safe, Responsible and Respectful!

From the Principal

Come See and Feel the Difference!
Your child will not get lost on our campus nor will you feel uncomfortable with what you are hearing from the bigger kids here at Bonny View. Bonny View is small enough to know each and every child and big enough to have the resources to meet your child's needs. As soon as you walk through our campus on a tour you will feel what everyone says about our school, "Wow, this is a great school!". We are proud of our school. Please feel free to call me and I would love to give you a personalized tour of our wonderful school.

Bobcats are the Best!
What an exciting adventure for all of us in Bobcat territory! We are continuing to offer exceptional instruction and build upon our new programs despite current state budget issues. We are expanding our "Intervention for All" programs to maximize our student's potential and our G.A.T.E.-like activities that challenge all our students' minds. Please feel free to contact us if you have any needs. Bonny View School has made a commitment to accept all, to teach all, to challenge all, to inspire all, children. Bonny View School is often referred to as the "Best Kept Secret in Redding".  Go Bobcats!

BV EXPLORATIONS:
Our GATE-like activities for K-5 have begun.  Look below for further information

Odyssey of the Mind - 4th and 5th Grades.
Bonny View’s Odyssey of the Mind Team is preparing for the North State Tournament being held on February 25th at Mountain View School in Redding.  This year’s team has chosen Problem 5: Odyssey Angels as their problem to solve.  Their job will be to create and present an original performance portraying a group of students who encounter negative situations that they turn into positive ones.  Odyssey of the Mind competitions require that all of the ideas come from the students and all of the work is done by the students.
In addition to preparing for their performance (script-writing, making props, backdrops and costumes, and rehearsing) the team will be participating in Spont Day on January 21st.  Local Odyssey teams join in activities on Spont Day that will help them prepare for the North State Tournament.  This team will be very busy over the coming months!
School Newspaper — 4th and 5th Grades
Student reporters on Bonny View’s school newspaper, The Paper Whiskers, are working together to create a paper that is fun and informative for the entire student body.  The students are improving their writing, typing and proofreading skills as well as learning how to conduct interviews and use publishing software. They even help with printing and distributing the newspaper. These students are having a fun and rewarding experience as they participate in the production of the newspaper from start to finish.
G.A.T.E. -like activites for K-3 grades have begun!
Classes are open to K, 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders with teacher and parent permission.
2nd/3rd Graders:  Monday/Wednesday 3:00-4:00 P.M.
K/1st   Graders:  Tuesday/Thursday  3:00-4:00 P.M

Space is limited—first come, first served!
What is Odyssey of the Mind? The Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program whose mission is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Through solving open-ended problems, students develop creative-thinking skills that can be applied to real-life situations.

STUDENT COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES
Here are some great opportunities that our school parents may want to pursue with their children. Please let us know if we can post student opportunities for our students. These are great activities to do on a rainy weekend or during extended days off away from school like holiday breaks or three day weekends.

In addition, there are many writing contests; however, read carefully as with all contests read the fine print. The best writing contest are sponsored by local reading and writing councils.
